Harbin Ice Festival Dates and Tickets: Which Venue?

The festival name covers several places. Confirm each venue’s season and ticket before booking; one event’s opening date does not apply to all of them.

Plan at a glance

  • Buy admission for the place you actually want to see.
  • Separate outdoor winter parks from indoor ice attractions.
  • Check passport booking before committing to a dated ticket.
  • Leave time for warm breaks and the journey back.
Past-season ice architecture; the next edition’s structures and dates may differ.

There is no single ticket for every winter attraction

Harbin ice festival tickets should be compared by the venue named on the booking. Ice and Snow World, Sun Island’s snow exhibition, Zhaolin Park’s ice lanterns and the Songhua River carnival have separate arrangements. A seller’s use of the word “festival” does not establish which one is included.

Start with the experience you want. Large illuminated ice buildings point towards the seasonal outdoor Ice and Snow World. Snow sculpture points towards Sun Island. Ice lanterns near the older centre and river games offer different visits. A bundle is useful only when its named inclusions suit your route and dates.

Read the full product name before paying, including any reference to an indoor hall. Two products can both contain “ice and snow” while offering very different visits. Ask for the entrance location and the official venue name if the translated listing is unclear.

What is confirmed for the upcoming season?

As checked on 24 October 2026, the provincial tourism authority has announced the 28th Ice and Snow World for winter 2026–27. The announcement describes planned features but does not state its opening day, closing day or ticket price. Do not treat a promotional launch as confirmation that the park is open.

Harbin ice festival dates are not one fixed window for every venue. The previous Ice and Snow World opened on 17 December 2025; that is historical evidence, not a booking date for December 2026. Sun Island’s upcoming exhibition was still inviting designs in October.

For travel near the start or end of winter, keep the booking flexible until the attraction you want has published its own operating notice. A city hotel can be open while a seasonal park is not. If ice sights are the main reason for travelling, an indoor substitute may not meet your expectations.

Which venue deserves your time?

Choose Ice and Snow World for an afternoon-to-evening visit when illuminated structures are the priority. Choose Sun Island for a separate daylight outing focused on snow sculpture. Splitting the two across days leaves more room for meals and warming up.

Zhaolin Park is useful to consider for a shorter outing near the older centre. The 52nd ice-lantern event, which opened in December 2025, offered free entry without reservations. Check the next edition’s notice rather than assuming the same arrangement continues.

The river carnival is an activity visit rather than a replacement for the large sculpture parks. It may make sense for people who want a short game or ride, but only when the managed area is officially operating. Do not count it as a guaranteed stop at the end of the season.

Passport booking: confirm the current procedure

A December 2024 provincial tourism guide described passport-based online and onsite purchase for Ice and Snow World, including an overseas booking option. This is useful evidence that passport booking has been provided, but it is not a guarantee that every app or payment method works unchanged for the next edition.

For your chosen date, check the accepted document type, name format, phone-number requirement and whether a voucher must be exchanged. Use the traveller’s own details and bring the document used for the booking. Do not put another person’s identity number into a form that does not accept your passport.

Before paying for several people, make sure the route works for every member of the group. Children’s discounts can have specific conditions; age alone may not establish eligibility. Ask the official seller rather than assuming a concession shown for one visitor category applies to everyone.

Compare the whole cost, not just the entry price

There is no verified upcoming-season price in the announcement cited above, so this guide does not quote a current adult fare. When sales open, compare the dated official offer with any package you are considering. Keep admission, transport, guiding, meals and optional activities as separate lines.

Check whether an attraction or performance needs its own booking even when it is included in admission. “Included” does not necessarily mean you can arrive at any time without a queue. Confirm child restrictions, session limits and whether unused extras can be refunded.

For a car-and-ticket package, ask for the pickup area, return arrangements and waiting limit. For a guided package, ask what time the English-speaking guide is with you. A driver transfer is often enough for a self-directed park walk, but it does not include explanations or assistance inside unless stated.

Plan the visit and the return together

For an evening ice visit, avoid spending the entire morning outdoors as well. Have a proper meal, change into the clothing you need and arrive with time for the entrance procedures. Pick a small number of priorities rather than treating every listed ride as compulsory.

Keep the return address and meeting point offline. If using public transport, check the actual last service for your route before entering; if booking a driver, agree how to request an earlier pickup. Winter clothing makes a long walk with children or luggage more tiring than the map suggests.

Tickets and hotel nights can have different cancellation conditions. Read both before booking a trip near the season’s edge. The river carnival’s operator closed its previous edition on 19 February 2026 as temperatures rose, illustrating why a broad “winter festival” label is not enough to plan a late visit.
