Zhangjiajie National Forest Park Tickets and a 2-Day Route

Match your park ticket, transport pass and entrance before booking. Split high viewpoints and valley walking across two days instead of trying to cover every area.

Plan at a glance

  • Spend one day at high viewpoints and another beside the stream
  • Buy transport for the route you will actually use
  • Choose entry and exit points before arranging your driver

Start with the route, then buy the ticket

Zhangjiajie National Forest Park tickets can look confusing because admission and transport are sold in different combinations. Begin with your two-day route and the rides it needs. A low headline price may cover a discounted category or only part of the journey, rather than a complete adult visit.

Separate the bill into park admission, internal buses, mountain cableways or the Bailong Elevator, and optional rides. Some packages combine these items; others do not. A transport-only pass should not be mistaken for park admission, and an admission ticket should not be assumed to include every ascent.

Government information describes four-day park and transport products, including limited-ride and multiple-ride versions. That explains the structure, not a guaranteed current price. Read the dated product terms for validity, activation, ride allowance and re-entry before payment. We do not reproduce old promotional prices as today’s fare.

Choose the entrance that fits your first stop

The official entrance list includes East Gate at Wulingyuan, South Gate at the forest park entrance, North Gate at Tianzi Mountain, Southeast Gate at Zimugang and West Gate at Yangjiajie. They are not interchangeable meeting points. Send the exact entrance pin to your hotel or driver.

For a first visit based in Wulingyuan town, East Gate is a practical starting point for a high-viewpoint circuit. South Gate works well for a day focused on Huangshizhai and Golden Whip Stream. A hotel at another gate can also work, but its attractive room price should be weighed against the transfers required by your chosen route.

Pick the exit as carefully as the entrance. If you finish at South Gate after entering at East Gate, you need a road connection back. Tell a driver about this in advance; a vehicle waiting at the original gate will not automatically meet you at a different one.

Day 1: a connected high-viewpoint circuit

A useful published circuit runs from East Gate to the Tianzi Mountain cableway, across the upper area towards Yuanjiajie, then down by the Bailong Elevator. Confirm bus stops and the final descent service that morning. This connects two major areas without requiring a long staircase descent.

Choose a handful of viewpoints in each area rather than adding every short branch path. The upper trails still involve walking and steps between transport stops. For planning, allow a full day of roughly 7–9 hours including entry, queues, lunch and breaks; this is a suggested allowance, not the park’s opening schedule.

If you reach the second area later than expected, shorten its walking loop. Do not add an extra ascent simply because it is included in a pass. A ticket offers access under its conditions, not extra daylight or guaranteed capacity.

Keep your phone charged and save the entrance, exit and hotel details offline. At a junction, check which shuttle destination you need before joining the queue. One wrong bus can cost more time than the five minutes spent checking the sign.

Day 2: Golden Whip Stream or Huangshizhai plus a shorter walk

Golden Whip Stream offers the view missing from the high circuit: trunks, water and rock walls rising above the valley. A return walk lets you control the distance. Start from the entrance agreed with your transfer, walk only as far as your group wants, and leave time to retrace the same path.

A through-walk can suit people who prefer a continuous route. It requires a confirmed transport connection at the far end and more walking than a short return section. Ask staff about the open path and exit before committing, especially after rain.

Choose Huangshizhai instead of extending the valley walk if you want another raised viewpoint. Cableway use adds a separate ride decision and does not remove the walking on top. For an easier second day, keep just the stream, stop for lunch and finish before everyone is tired.

Two days do not need to cover every named part of the park. Yangjiajie and additional viewpoints are reasons to add time, not obligations. The best use of a multi-day ticket is a comfortable route that matches your interests, rather than the largest possible list of stops.

Passport booking, discounts and what a pass does not cover

Use the traveller’s name and passport details consistently in the booking, and bring the original document. Before paying, make sure the selected seller supports your document type and explains how entry works. If a form accepts only a Chinese identity-card number, ask for the appropriate booking channel rather than entering a substitute number.

For child, student or senior prices, verify eligibility and accepted proof for each part of the package. Reduced park admission does not necessarily mean free cableways. Keep the final product description and confirmation available on your phone, including dates and refund terms.

Tianmen Mountain and the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge are separate outings. Neither should be assumed to come with a forest park ticket. Hotel transfers, an English-speaking guide, meals and optional rides also need their own stated inclusion. A private guide can help navigate the day, but cannot promise empty queues or open facilities.

Walking comfort and a practical change of plan

Carry a small day bag rather than luggage. Wear shoes with grip, take a rain layer, and use meal and toilet stops before a long viewpoint section. Do not feed or approach monkeys; keep food packed away when they are nearby.

For anyone who needs step-free access, ask about the exact path between each transport stop and viewpoint. A lift on the map does not prove the full circuit is accessible. Give the operator your actual walking limit and equipment needs so it can propose a suitable route.

In light rain, an open lower path may still offer trees and stream views when the peaks are hidden. During storm warnings or closures, follow staff instructions and leave the affected area. Recheck re-entry and ticket change conditions before relying on another day as a fallback.
