8-Day Lijiang Shangri-La and Meili Tour | Plateau Towns & Mountain Views

This Lijiang Shangri-La and Meili tour starts in Lijiang. Transfer from the confirmed Lijiang airport or railway station to your hotel, leaving the day free of fixed sightseeing. An airport transfer commonly needs 45–60 minutes, and the railway-station road about 20–40 minutes depending on the hotel.

Review luggage and the proposed walking stages with the team. The High Trail section in this itinerary is currently on hold under the protected-area notice, so the complete eight-day product cannot be confirmed until a lawful route or an explicitly agreed change is documented.

Travel from Lijiang to Tiger Leaping Gorge for a light walk within areas open to visitors. Allow around 2–3 hours for walking, viewpoints and breaks, with the exact path and turnaround point selected by the receiving team for the conditions that day. Steps and uneven ground may be involved; wear walking shoes and carry water. Closed sections are excluded.

Continue by vehicle to Shangri-La after the visit. Your main luggage travels in the vehicle; carry a daypack for the walk.

Tiger Leaping Gorge — open visitor walking areas

Explore Songzanlin Monastery for roughly 1.5–2 hours, following the open religious visitor circuit and allowing time for its steps. Continue to Napa’s seasonally changing wetland landscape, using accessible public paths selected for that day’s water levels and land access.

Spend around 1.5–2 hours among Dukezong’s stone lanes, Moonlight Square and the Guishan surroundings. Allow roughly 1–1.5 hours of local road transfers in addition to visits. The town is above 3,000 metres; walking is paced accordingly, and private homes or religious ceremonies are not assumed to be open for photography.

Songzanlin Monastery · Napa Lake · Dukezong Ancient Town

Meet the prearranged Nixi workshop host to see how local black pottery is shaped and used. The planned introduction is a demonstration, not an automatically included hands-on class or a finished pot to take home. Continue past Benzilan to the managed Great Bend viewpoint.

Allow about 4–5.5 hours of driving across the day, plus visits and rest stops, following the operating Baima Mountain tunnel corridor toward Deqin and Feilaisi. Stay near the agreed mountain-viewing area. The old high pass is not a compulsory detour, and the hotel room itself is not guaranteed to face the peaks.

Go to the agreed viewpoint before sunrise for a chance to see light on Meili’s summits, then return for breakfast before the planned Mingyong visit. Weather can obscure the mountains for the whole day. The road circuit is provisionally about 2–3 hours before scenic transport and walking.

Use only the currently authorised Mingyong visitor paths toward the permitted temple and glacier viewing points, with around 3–4 hours allowed for an agreed walk and rests. Exact access, transport and turnaround require local confirmation; there is no walking onto glacier ice. If the site is closed, discuss the proposed Feilaisi or Wunongding viewpoint and village alternatives rather than promising an equivalent glacier experience.

Meili Snow Mountain viewpoints · Mingyong Glacier

Return to the viewpoint for another opportunity to see Meili’s morning light, or rest if you prefer. A second morning improves flexibility without guaranteeing a clear summit. Take breakfast before the return journey.

Drive via the operating Benzilan and Baima tunnel corridor to Shangri-La, approximately 4–5.5 hours before longer stops. The evening is left free near the hotel, providing recovery time after the mountain visits rather than adding another fixed attraction.

Meili Snow Mountain viewpoints

Drive about 30–40 minutes to Pudacuo and use its official shuttle to the open visitor areas. Allow around four hours in the park, choosing the permitted Shudu Lake boardwalk circuit, up to roughly 3.3 kilometres when fully open. Other lake areas are not added simply because they appear on old maps.

Continue to Shangri-La station for a dated afternoon or early-evening second-class train to Lijiang, commonly about 1–1.5 hours. Meet the local vehicle and transfer to your hotel. Park exit, luggage collection and railway check-in must fit the booked service; the rail fare is itemised in the quotation.

Pudacuo National Park

Take time to pack or walk near the hotel before the arranged transfer to Lijiang Sanyi Airport or the railway station. Pickup follows the real flight or train, traffic and luggage requirements.

The standard programme ends in Lijiang. Additional nights, a different endpoint or specialist photography services require a separate proposal.
