8-Day Urumqi, Kanas and Hemu Tour | Heavenly Lake & Altai Villages

Your Urumqi, Kanas and Hemu tour starts with the following arrangements. Meet your guide and driver at Urumqi Tianshan Airport or Urumqi Railway Station and transfer to the city hotel. No sightseeing is scheduled today, leaving time to rest before several substantial road stages. Early arrivals can ask for a nearby independent walk, a bazaar recommendation or a local noodle restaurant.

Confirm the actual terminal and luggage needs in advance. All meeting and transport times use Beijing time, UTC+8; local daylight patterns are seasonal rather than a promise of late sunset on every departure.

Leave early for the approximately 1.5-hour drive to Heavenly Lake. Change to the official shuttle and allow 3–3.5 hours for the agreed lake-and-forest circuit, including the standard shared boat ride when it is operating. The 30–40-minute boat session is replaced by additional lakeside walking if wind, ice or operations prevent sailing. It is not a private charter.

Continue toward Fuyun, with about 5.5–6.5 hours of onward road travel before any extended delays. The combined driving is around seven to eight hours, in addition to the lake visit, lunch and access procedures. This very long day needs a supplier-approved early start, driver-rest plan and realistic evening hotel arrival; the lake visit must not be quietly reduced to a photo stop to make the timings appear easier.

Tianshan Heavenly Lake

Travel to Keketuohai’s main visitor area for a 3.5–4-hour visit focused on the Irtysh Grand Canyon, granite formations and the river landscape. Scenic transport and the selected walking section are planned together. If opening times and your interests support it, a roughly one-hour No. 3 Mine or geological-museum visit replaces part of the canyon programme rather than being an automatic extra.

Continue to Burqin, allowing about four to five hours by road after the visit and the separate Fuyun access link. Leave room for meals and rests during another full road-and-sightseeing day. Finish at the Burqin hotel without an additional evening excursion.

Keketuohai

Drive around 2.5–3.5 hours to Jiadengyu or the confirmed Kanas gateway, then use the official scenic shuttle. Allow 2–2.5 hours beside the lake, with forest and mountain views shaped by the weather and season. A shared cruise is an optional extra, subject to the actual lake service.

Join the pre-arranged 45–60-minute Tuva cultural encounter in the agreed wooden-house or cultural venue. The host’s programme introduces architecture, pastoral life and any booked music; it is not unrestricted entry into a private home. Stay in the confirmed Kanas-area lodge. The booking must specify whether it is inside the scenic boundary or at the gateway, since luggage and next-day transfers differ.

Kanas Lake

Choose one main option for the morning. When open and suitable for your fitness, the Fish-Watching Pavilion needs its own shuttle plus about 1,000 steps and roughly 2.5–3 hours overall. Otherwise follow the Three Bays circuit by shuttle, with a selected 1.5–2-hour walking section around Fairy, Moon and Wolong bays. The alternatives are not both promised as full programmes.

Continue to Hemu, allowing around three to four hours for road and scenic transfers, then about 1.5 hours for the river and wooden-house village. Settle into the same agreed standard of local mountain accommodation, with actual room, heating, bathroom and luggage arrangements confirmed in advance.

Kanas Lake · Hemu Village

If the weather and path conditions allow, make the early return walk to Hemu’s viewpoint, allowing 1.5–2 hours for the outing. Mist, snow and sunrise colour remain uncertain. Return for about an hour of village time and the breakfast arrangements confirmed with your lodge, especially if the kitchen opens after the start.

Leave for Burqin, allowing about four to five hours including the scenic shuttle, then spend roughly 1.5 hours at Colorful Beach on its permitted visitor paths. The river, vegetation and eroded striped formations give a different landscape from the forested mountain days. Continue to Burqin for the night.

Hemu Village · Colorful Beach Burqin

Allow 3–3.5 hours from Burqin to Urho World Ghost City, then around two hours on the official scenic-vehicle circuit through its eroded ridges and outcrops. Stay within the managed route and use sun and wind protection suited to the conditions. Oilfield pumpjacks seen from the road introduce another part of Karamay’s landscape, without an industrial-site entry.

Continue to Urumqi, provisionally a further four to five hours of driving. The total road allowance is roughly seven to 8.5 hours before the visit, meals and extended traffic delays. Confirm the driver-rest schedule and late hotel arrival before booking; this is a long return day rather than a short stop en route.

Urho World Ghost City

Keep the final day free for packing, resting or a short independent outing near the hotel. At the agreed time, meet your team for the transfer to Urumqi Tianshan Airport or Urumqi Railway Station. The actual terminal, luggage, road travel and departure procedures are confirmed together, especially after the previous day’s long return drive.
