Your Xi’an, Dunhuang and Kashgar tour starts with the following arrangements. Meet your guide and driver at Xi’an Xianyang Airport, Xi’an North or Xi’an Railway Station for the transfer to the city hotel. There is no fixed sightseeing on arrival. Rest, or ask about a nearby walk and a restaurant suited to your preferences. Performances or extra visits require their own arrangements.

Before departure, the team reviews the rail, flight and document needs of the full route, including the later Pamir excursion. All confirmed schedules use Beijing time, UTC+8, and named trains or flights remain subject to their dated availability.

Allow 1–1.5 hours each way for the Lintong road journey and 3–3.5 hours at the Terracotta Army. Follow the open viewing routes through the main pits, looking at military organisation, craft production and the traces of original colour. The included 45–60-minute introductory workshop uses modern materials to make a small warrior model; it is not work on an original object.

Back in Xi’an, spend 1.5–2 hours on a selected City Wall section, walking or separately renting a bicycle when permitted for your age and the conditions. Finish with about 1.5 hours in the Muslim Quarter and Great Mosque’s visitor areas. This is a very full day of roughly 7.5–9 hours of visits plus two to three hours of driving before meals and queues; the supplier must verify an early start and all last-entry times before confirming the complete sequence.

Spend 1.5–2 hours at Da Ci’en Temple and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda precinct, connecting Xuanzang’s translation work with the movement of Buddhist texts and ideas. The booked admission scope specifies whether any separately ticketed tower ascent is included.

Transfer to Xi’an North for a second-class high-speed or D-series train to Zhangye West. Use around six to 6.5 hours as an initial planning estimate, with the actual dated service, station procedures and hotel transfers confirmed before booking. The local Zhangye team receives you and takes you to the hotel. No further compulsory sightseeing follows the long rail stage.

Giant Wild Goose Pagoda

Drive about 45–60 minutes to Zhangye Colorful Danxia and allow 3–4 hours on the official shuttle-and-platform circuit. Observe the layered hills from permitted viewpoints, with their colours changing under actual sunlight, cloud and surface conditions rather than matching a guaranteed photograph.

Return to the city for 1.5–2 hours at the Giant Buddha Temple, where the reclining Buddha and surrounding displays place Buddhist heritage within the Hexi Corridor. A short Wooden Pagoda Square walk can follow only if time allows. Because the temple has its own closing time, do not assume that a late Danxia sunset and the complete temple visit fit the same sequence; confirm the daytime order before travel.

Zhangye Rainbow Mountains · Giant Buddha Temple Zhangye

Take the booked second-class train from Zhangye West to Jiayuguan South, using roughly 1.5 hours only as a planning estimate. Meet the local team and allow 2.5–3 hours at Jiayuguan Pass before returning to the correct station for the onward service. Hotel-to-station, security, luggage and the pass road links are additional to train running time.

Continue on the actual booked train to Dunhuang, with the approximately 2.5-hour planning estimate requiring timetable verification. The Dunhuang team meets you and transfers you to the hotel. Confirm both trains and the complete transfer plan before sale; the Overhanging Great Wall is an optional addition only if the confirmed connections leave enough time, not a standard extra fitted between tight trains.

Jiayuguan Pass

Follow the official Mogao reservation, allowing 3.5–4 hours for the booked digital interpretation, visitor transfer and selected caves. Cave access and guiding follow the conservation authority’s arrangements; a named cave, private circuit or special-cave application is not guaranteed. Your travel guide coordinates the day and the permitted language support.

Join the included 1.5–2-hour introductory mural-copying workshop at the confirmed cultural facility, using teaching panels and pigments. Continue to Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring for 2.5–3 hours in the later part of the day, with camel riding optional. These visits total roughly eight to nine hours before roads, lunch and queues, so an early compatible Mogao slot, studio session and scenic final entry are essential. Keep all three core arrangements subject to a supplier-verified schedule, rather than silently shortening the cave visit.

Mogao Caves · Mingshashan Crescent Spring

This is a transfer day. Allow a provisional two to 2.5 hours by private vehicle from Dunhuang to Liuyuan South, which is outside the city, followed by the required station procedures. Take the actual booked second-class D-series service toward Turpan North; about 3.5 hours is used as an indicative running time, not a fixed promise.

The Turpan team meets you for the hotel transfer. Do not add Yumen Pass or another remote desert site before the train. Road, security, train travel and local arrival together occupy much of the day, so meals, water and luggage are planned around the confirmed connection.

Allow around an hour at Emin Minaret’s accessible precinct and 1–1.5 hours at the selected Karez visitor site. Brick patterns and underground water channels offer two ways to understand the oasis. Follow religious access rules and do not assume that every tower or working water tunnel is open to enter.

Give Jiaohe 2–2.5 hours on its permitted earthen-city paths, with the exposed walk timed for the day’s heat. Rest in the agreed grape courtyard and taste the seasonal fruit provided. A brief Flaming Mountains viewpoint follows only when the route and light allow. Picking grapes, performances and an unlimited fruit spread are not promised; the basic tasting scope is confirmed with the host.

Emin Minaret · Selected Karez visitor site · Jiaohe Ancient City

Spend 1.5–2 hours at Turpan Museum, choosing displayed objects that add context to the basin’s communities and trade history. The actual galleries and opening day are checked in advance; the order of the Turpan visits may be adjusted to fit museum closure arrangements.

Drive roughly 2.5–3 hours to Urumqi, then allow 1.5–2 hours around the Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar. Look at its architecture, craft stalls and street life without a compulsory purchase. Tomorrow’s flight check-in details, bags and Kashgar reception are confirmed before the evening ends.

Turpan Museum · Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar

Transfer to Urumqi Tianshan Airport for the confirmed morning economy-class flight to Kashgar Laining Airport, provisionally about two to 2.5 hours in the air. Meet the local team and complete any pre-arranged in-person border-permit appointment within the authority’s business hours before relying on tomorrow’s lake day.

Allow 2.5–3 hours for the Old City’s permitted lanes and craft areas, 45–60 minutes at the agreed teahouse and a visit to Id Kah’s public visitor precinct when open. Worship and residents’ privacy take priority over photography or interaction. The flight, document appointment and all city visits make a full day; actual arrival and office times must support the programme before booking.

Kashgar Old Town · Id Kah Mosque

Proceed only when the required original documents, personal eligibility and electronic border permit or other applicable authorisation have been confirmed. Foreign applicants requiring the permit attend the designated office in person; the team helps with preparation and the appointment but does not issue or guarantee official approval. Follow authorised stops and the actual checkpoint instructions on the Karakoram Highway.

Spend 45–60 minutes at White Sand Lake and 1.5–2 hours at Karakul’s permitted shore viewpoints, around 3,600 metres above sea level. Clear views of Muztagh Ata and neighbouring peaks depend on weather. Return to Kashgar the same day, provisionally 10–12 hours overall including roughly six to eight hours of roads and checks. Consider altitude suitability before booking and obtain individual medical advice where needed. This is not a Tashkurgan or Panlong extension; an access refusal or closure needs an agreed alternative.

Leave the last day free for rest, packing or a short independent outing near the hotel. At the agreed time, meet your reception team for the transfer to Kashgar Laining Airport or Kashgar Railway Station. Use the confirmed flight or train, actual terminal and check-in requirement to calculate the road and boarding buffer.

Further visits or an onward extension are separately arranged rather than made compulsory on the way out. All documents used for the previous days remain your responsibility to keep with you until the journey is complete.
