Explore the Potala Palace at the confirmed reservation time, following the approved circuit through its accessible religious and historical spaces. Substantial stairs make this a demanding second day at altitude. Your guide checks your readiness first; illness means discussing a revised order, not pressing on to satisfy a timetable.

Visit Jokhang Temple and the Barkhor lanes afterward as energy allows. Walk with the clockwise pilgrim flow and respect rules on interior photographs. Palace ticket availability and the resulting sequence must be settled before the programme is treated as confirmed.

Travel east by road, allowing about 6–8 hours for the drive with the Basum Tso detour, before time at the lake and meal stops. The landscape becomes more wooded as you approach Nyingchi. At Basum Tso, use the operating scenic transport and permitted lakeside and island-temple route rather than attempting a longer mountain walk.

Reach the Nyingchi hotel for the night at roughly 3,000 metres. A railway alternative would omit the road-based lake visit and must be agreed as a different arrangement; it is not silently substituted into this itinerary.

Basum Tso

Cross the forested Sejila road and pause briefly at its approximately 4,700-metre viewpoint if weather and access allow. Namcha Barwa may appear beyond the ridges, but cloud can conceal the mountain throughout the visit. Descend toward Lulang’s meadows and timber-built settlements for the planned stone-pot chicken lunch.

Continue to Bome, with around 5–7 hours of road travel across the day before longer stops. Discuss dietary alternatives before travel. A short high-pass stop is still altitude exposure, so it is adjusted to your condition rather than used for a fixed hike.

Sejila Pass · Lulang Forest

Drive east from Bome, planning roughly 2–3 hours each way to the Midui visitor area. Walk from the managed access point through the village and forest toward the authorised glacier viewpoint, using the operating shuttle where required. The landscape brings ice, trees and valley settlements into the same scene; this is a viewing visit, not a glacier crossing.

The uneven uphill walk is set around current access and the group’s pace. A horse for an authorised section is an extra, with handling, equipment and eligibility checked locally; it does not remove every walking section. Return to the same Bome hotel.

Midui Glacier

Visit the permitted Gangxiang forest area near Bome for a gentle walk among tall spruce and valley vegetation. Stay on the locally authorised visitor path; a protected forest name does not give unrestricted access to its interior. The exact entrance, walking circuit and reception permission are confirmed by the local team.

Return west through Lulang and Sejila toward Nyingchi, allowing about 5–7 hours on the road plus stops. A second brief mountain viewpoint is possible if conditions are better, but the day’s priority is an orderly return to the hotel before departure tomorrow.

Gangxiang authorised forest circuit

Meet the departure team for your transfer to Nyingchi Mainling Airport. The drive from the urban hotel commonly takes about 45–75 minutes, with additional airline check-in and security time. The actual dated flight decides pickup, not a fixed departure hour printed in an old itinerary.

Onward flight availability and permit dates are checked together. No return to Lhasa is included in the standard finish.
