Your Lhasa and Yamdrok Lake tour starts with the following arrangements. Meet the local guide and driver at Lhasa Gonggar Airport or the railway station and settle into your hotel. The airport road normally needs about 1–1.5 hours; the station transfer depends on the property. At roughly 3,650 metres, the first afternoon is reserved for rest rather than sightseeing.
Your Tibet arrangements require advance approval for your identity, dates and route. Confirm the documents and permit delivery before travelling into the region. Tell the team if you feel unwell; an easy arrival and available oxygen do not guarantee acclimatisation.
Private local road service · Allow actual road links, visits, walking and breaks
Only listed road journeys; official internal transport and pedestrian lanes are separate.
Private vehicles for scheduled road journeys →Private English-speaking guiding for scheduled visits. Road driving and local arrival reception are separate; rail or flight accompaniment is not assumed.
Start among Norbulingka’s gardens and palace buildings, then visit Drepung’s hillside halls to understand the monastic colleges that shaped religious learning in Lhasa. Continue to Sera for its courtyards and religious architecture. A debating session is included in the intended viewing programme only when the monastery is holding one; worship, closures and the actual schedule take priority.
This is a full sightseeing day with repeated steps at altitude, not a flat garden stroll. Your guide will pace the visits and discuss a shorter circuit if needed. Photography and access inside religious buildings follow each monastery’s rules.

Follow the reserved Potala Palace route through the accessible halls and courtyards, with interpretation delivered where permitted. The approach rises by ramps and many steps, and the allocated interior visiting time still applies even when you walk slowly. Reservations are requested through the authorised process; a photograph outside is not equivalent to an interior ticket.
Continue to Jokhang Temple and the clockwise Barkhor circuit, observing pilgrimage activity without interrupting worshippers. Finish with the planned sweet-tea stop at an accessible nunnery venue, subject to its welcome and opening. Exact tea venue and included serving are confirmed with the local team.

Leave early for the Kamba La viewpoints above Yamdrok Lake, then follow the lakeside road toward Karola Glacier. Plan roughly 7–9 hours of driving across the full return circuit, plus viewpoints, lunch and breaks; this is not a two-hour outing. The lake lies around 4,400 metres and the pass and glacier viewing area approach 4,800–5,000 metres.
Keep the glacier visit to authorised viewing paths. The source programme’s approximately one-hour alpine-lake walk is retained only if the exact route is officially open and the guide judges the group able to continue; it is not permission to walk onto ice. Blue ice, clear summits and winter access are not assured. Return to Lhasa, shortening the excursion or turning back if conditions require.

Pack at an unhurried pace before your agreed airport or railway transfer. The guide coordinates the local departure arrangements and the driver handles the road; airport procedures and security require additional time beyond the drive. No extra sightseeing is built into the final morning.
